Welcome to My Blog!

Me goofing off!

Hello! My name is Heather Leggett. I'm basically just a big goofball at heart (just look at the photos for an idea, haha). I've been into photography for about 20 years now (ok, that makes me sound really old! LOL). I started out taking over as the family photographer when I was 11 yrs old and now I am taking pictures of my own children every chance I get. I think it's so important to have pictures to document your family's life, little moments and big ones. After all, it's all about the journey isn't it?

I hope you enjoy my blog! Here you'll find client sneak peeks, info on pricing and specials, as well as my own personal photographs as I document my family's moments. Feel free to leave a comment or contact me for more information, questions, or to book a session. Have a wonderful day!!

Gingerbread house fun!

My kids had the day off school on Tuesday so I thought it would be fun to have a little project for them to do. I got one of those gingerbread house kits from the grocery store and we spent the afternoon putting it together…. and then devouring it! Haha! They had a blast! Here are a few pics I took to document the fun family activity.

Those eyes…

They truly are the window into the soul. My daughter Jaden is a very soulful little girl. She often surprises me with how insightful she is, saying things you would think could only come from a much older child. My baby is growing up way too fast. It seems the youngest always have a way of trying to make up for being the youngest by reaching beyond their years and outgrowing their baby and toddlerhood much more quickly than their older siblings. It’s so very bittersweet, and one of the many reasons I love being a photographer. I get to freeze these tiny moments in time and hold onto them a bit longer…

A very rare moment…

It’s very rare when I’m actually in front of the camera, without the timer on or my arm stretching out, and even more special that I’m in the classroom with my sweet girl. Thank you to Ashlynn’s teacher, Miss Flora, for taking this picture of Ashlynn and I having a special moment reading together when I was helping out in her classroom. I love my time there and it is so nice to be a part of documenting the classroom activities.

Look into the light!

I just have to give a big shout out to two of the best teachers ever!! Miss Flora and Miss Julie, two of my kids’ teachers! Thanks for your support and I love how you always check my blog for new pics!

So I was chatting with these lovely ladies this evening after school and they pointed out this gorgeous tree outside the windows of the cafeteria and that beautiful golden sunset light was hitting it just right. Thankfully I had my camera with me so of course I had to take some pictures. Here’s a few shots I got that I love.

The kids had fun running around in the grass while I was taking pics of the tree. I had to catch a couple of them playing too. It is rare for me to be able to get Mac to cooperate with the camera so I was thrilled when he was actually sitting there letting me snap away. I was practicing some silhouette shots when I noticed his mouth looked a little funny. It was then I realized the reason he was sitting still and cooperating so well. He was blowing spit bubbles with his mouth, hahaha! What a boy! He cracks me up! I actually think it looks cool how the sun is shining through his “lovely” spit bubble, haha.

Here’s another one I caught before he noticed I was taking pics of him. He was looking at the clouds through hand binoculars. Such a sweet moment. They grow up so fast, I know there won’t be a lot of these kind of moments left to capture. You know I will be printing this up BIG! :)

A moment…

I love pictures taken from behind. There’s something about them that feels like you’re peeking into someone’s life and capturing a moment in time. I also absolutely love black & white photography, especially with grain. When I processed this picture I just had to stop and stare at it for a while. It’s one of those moments…

Birdhouse

Found this birdhouse the other day when we were out and about. I love the rustic look to it and how it looks against the bark of the tree. I added a little texture in processing to give it an added rustic element. This will go into my nature collection as well.

Gone to seed

I loved this cool plant I found the other day while on an outing. I just had to snap a pic. I added a little texture. This is one of the photos that will be available for print, either as a wall print or notecard. See me for more details if you are interested in this or another of my nature prints.

More fall fun!

As promised, here’s some more of the pics I took Thursday of Jaden playing outside in the leaves and grass. I have more leafy ones, but I just loved these close ups of her. Sorry for so many, I had to share some black & white versions too because I just love how they turned out!

Fun in the leaves!

I have more from this set to share but I’m supposed to be working. I just HAD to put my favorite up really quick though! This just screams FALL to me!! The beautiful yellow leaves in the background, bright green grass, golden leaves to jump in and my beautiful smiling girl as she runs and jumps in the leaves. It makes me smile. :)
